Earlier this month, when Google announced its Chrome OS and made clear that it is headed for netbooks , the news curbed many of the predictions people were making about the Android operating system’s prospects on netbooks.

One of the highlights of the O’Reilly Open Source Conference (OSCON) is finding out who won bragging rights in the annual SourceForge Community Choice Awards. More than 47,000 open source projects were nominated for slots in one of 12 categories, but only 85 were chosen as finalists.

As the O’Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) winds down today, conference goers are returning home loaded down with information gleaned from dozens of presentations and sessions held over the course of the four-day event. Of course not everyone in the open source community was able to attend and those that were couldn’t sit in on every single session.
